I Was Doing the Wrong Job All Along
Or: Don’t make money to be rich.
For the past 1.5 years, I was building my marketing agency.
(Thank you and love you, Dennis.)
I am not bad at what I do.
I do enjoy my job.
Am I fulfilled?
No.
Oh man, I’m smiling writing that because it’s unbelievable how I got to this:
Fate (or was it?) led me to building Nomad Nexus.
And Nomad Nexus, my baby, showed me what I really want to do career wise and personally.
Broken down, the path to it:
I got a chance to speak at a conference, Camp Nerd 2024 in Palma.
“GDPR is a giant scam - Conversion Tracking and its relevance for SMEs”
Applied for many more opportunities in the nomadic world -
and a friend of mine, Chris, suggested applying for the Nomad X Experience in Sinaia, Romania.
Fast forward,
it transformed from a conference into a nomad retreat / conference.
“Too little” people applied.

Goncalo Hall, the organiser posted on this topic on LinkedIn
I loved it.
I connected.
I Exchanged.
Got supported and validated.
Made new, amazing friends that I saw again in Bucharest, Bansko, Sofia, Athens, Istanbul, will see again in Chiang Mai & online - people who ended up supporting this exact project - Nomad Nexus.
It literally changed my life.
Goncalo’s talk about community and instant validation from others did.
“Take the lead. Build a community. And here’s how you do it.”
We’re 11 newsletters into the journey.
96 days since the idea. ❗️
30 applications. ✅
7 calls scheduled. ✅
1 couple checking flights. 🛫
The moment I ended the successful call, I jumped.
I couldn’t believe it.
Ideal customer.
Sounds flat, wait, let me rephrase.
SOMEBODY THAT UNDERSTANDS.
Understands the pain
the quiet, hollow evenings
the meals shared with no one
the fleeting, surface-level conversations
the life of a nomad.
(over exaggerated, i’m sipping on coconuts working on a beach)
My point is,
it's never about making money.
It never was, I just had fun.
Especially drinking coconuts.
lol.
But I could never have thought of what I actually want, what fulfils me, what do I crave and HOW do I bring this to life (or the belief that I can) without the things I have done.
My learning? Don’t make money to be rich.
Make money to create, connect, and live with purpose.
Another acquaintance told me, she starts promoting her retreats a year before.
She was never not supportive or anything, but I could feel the disbelief.
Let me be clear- its not fully booked yet.
Yet.
But she now asks: how did you do it?
And honestly:
I believed.
Really fucking hard.
And that’s all that matters.

with all the love and respect. Appreciate the support!
Peace out,
Danny.
ANSWER TO THIS EMAIL - I will read it!!!
P.S.: if you’re a nomad and like this, apply here. If you can’t make the dates but know someone who would love this, please share. It would mean the world to me.
Sometimes I write these with tears in my eyes.
I never wrote anything with tears in my eyes in the past years.
It does mean the world to me.
P.P.S.: beliefs, ideas and dreams are worthless without execution.
